ABOUT
Tamra is a figurative ceramic sculptor working primarily in hand-built terracotta. Her practice explores the shared human story - how culture, ancestry and identity shape who we are, and how contradiction adds to our complexity: strength and vulnerability, humour and sadness, beauty and imperfection.
After more than 30 years in property development, design, leadership and business, she began a gradual return to making from 2020. This evolved through the establishment of a pottery school before shifting fully into sculpture from her own studio.
Her work centres on the human figure, approached through research, observation and sustained refinement. She is particularly interested in posture, presence and the psychological weight a body can carry. Working in terracotta allows her to build form directly by hand, preserving evidence of process and decision-making within the surface.
Tamra begins an MA in Fine Art at City & Guilds of London Art School in September, where she will undertake rigorous postgraduate study to deepen the conceptual and technical strength of her practice and work at greater scale with confidence. She is committed to building a serious, long-term sculptural career.
All works are original and hand-built.
